The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) charges Erik Voorhees for making a public offering of securities and failing to register it with the U.S. federal government.
A settlement bans him from Bitcoin security offerings during the next five years according to the official SEC statement. He is ordered to forfeit the profits of US$15,843.98, and pay a penalty of US$35,000.
The case involves solicitation of shares in two of his bitcoin-related ventures, Satoshi DICE, a Bitcoin casino and FeedZeBirds, a now closed pay-per-click service that took place in 2013.
